Pie de Chinche is located in El Cerrito mountains in Cordillera Occidental between Cali and Tulua. While flying you can enjoy the beautiful views of the Valle de Cauca fields surrounding river Cauca and it's numerous tributaries.
The launch ground is a spacious grassy slope. Connected by a dirt road.
Nearest landing - 1171 m ASL , N 3°37'25", W 76°11'40" (3.62375, 76.1947) While flying one must observe airspace restrictions of Cali and Tulua airports.

10 days of flight in the colorful Valle del Cauca, being the main venue of the tour the small town of Santa Helena. It is the ideal place to start not only because of its proximity to the Palmira international airport but also because of its topography and its well-defined but friendly thermals. The perfect warm-up to adapt to Valle del Cauca.
Then we will go north where we will visit the town of La Union, and in the following days the emblematic Roldanillo, the South American Mecca for Cross Country flights.
This tour is designed for intermediate pilots who are starting in thermal flight. But advanced pilots are also welcome, with smaller radius cylinders and pickups included anywhere in the valley, plus XC talks by national champions, we hope to provide a learning environment that is enriching for everyone.

We use an App on your phone which sends your GPS coordinates to the tracking website while you’re flying and we can see where you are at any moment. This is for your safety, to organize your retrieval after landing, and to review your flight every day.
What you need to be and to bring
For this tour, you must be a pilot rated leastways USHPA P2, IPPI 1, BHPA Club pilot, APPI Pilot, or equivalent, with a minimum of 25 hours, and totally autonomous for taking off, flying and landing. Bring your flight equipment, with reserve parachute, helmet, Walkie VHF 2m a vario (for XC) and unlocked mobile phone.
We provide a free airport transfer only from/to the Palmira airport on the set travel dates. We require a minimum of 3 people booked to run the shuttle. The shuttle service departs from Palmira airport on the arrival date.
